Is this QR code safe?
Fake QR codes ("quishing") are increasingly stuck on parking meters, charging stations, invoices and letters. Scan the code here before you open it – we show you what is really behind it.

Check QR code
No protection is perfect: the check can miss dangerous targets and, in rare cases, flag harmless ones. Do not rely on it alone.
Or drag an image here or paste it with Ctrl+V.
Camera images and photos are only analysed in your browser and never uploaded.
Data on dangerous sites: Google Safe Browsing. QR recognition: jsQR (Apache-2.0). All information without guarantee.
How we check without looking
- Recognition in your browserYour browser reads the QR code from the camera image or photo. The image never leaves your device.
- Links like in the link checkIf the code leads to a website, we check the link for typical tricks and compare fragments of its fingerprints with Google Safe Browsing.
- Payments and numbers tooWe show payment QR codes with recipient and IBAN, and flag premium-rate numbers and crypto addresses.
How to protect yourself from quishing
Scammers stick their own codes over real ones or send them by letter and email. These rules keep you from falling for it.
- Look out for stickersDoes the code feel like a sticker or sit crookedly over another one? Then do not scan it.
- Check the target before openingMost camera apps show the address before opening it. If it does not match the provider, cancel.
- Prefer the official appParking, charging or paying also works through the provider’s known app or website – no QR code needed.
- Compare payment detailsFor QR codes on invoices, compare recipient and IBAN with previous invoices before you approve the payment.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Only your browser analyses camera images and photos. For links, only fragments of fingerprints (hash prefixes) go through our server to Google Safe Browsing – never the link itself.
Why does the page ask for the camera?
Only when you tap "Start camera". The image is searched for a QR code live in your browser and is not stored. Without a camera you can choose a photo instead.
What is a payment QR code?
An EPC QR code (GiroCode) contains recipient, IBAN and amount for a bank transfer. Banking apps take the details over directly – so it is worth a close look before you pay.
I already scanned and entered details – what now?
Change the affected password immediately. For bank or card details, call your bank. The emergency assistant guides you step by step.
